YORK

Off to York and our stay at the Wheatlands Lodge Hotel. The Wheatlands looked like a large house with green grass, plants, and beautiful flowers. A walkway lined with colorful Impatiens, led us to the front door. We enjoyed the "homelike" hospitality, friendly atmosphere, and perfect location provided by family that owed and ran the hotel.

Sightseeing Historic York, and shopping at the Shambles, was only a ten min walk from the hotel. We got a taste of independence shopping at the Shambles without the adults. My favorite shop was the Year Round Christmas store! York's Christmas store was much larger than the one in Disneyland, California.

We ate dinner at the Windmill. The Windmill is located just outside Historic York. The fish and chips there were not too salty and quite good!

F.C.R.T's  concert was at Warwick Castle Great Hall. Warwick Castle is one of the oldest castles in the world and its interiors are breathtaking! The walls are filled with history and fun facts about past events in York. Our audience graciously welcomed us. I will always treasure our performance at the Great Hall.

Before we left for London we visited Shakespeare's Birthplace. After all, you can never have "Too much of a good thing" (Shakespeare's As You Like ) Shakespeare's house was so well preserved, we could almost feel his presence. On our way to London no one "slept a wink"    ( Shakespeare's Cymbeline)
